WORKING WITH YOU

FUNCTIONAL BEHAVIOR ASSESSMENT

When appropriate we work with you to identify any challenging behaviors your child may be exhibiting.

We examine the "why" of those  behaviors to determine their functions, i.e., what makes them effective.

From there, we develop a behavior plan with strategies specific to any given function of each challenging behavior being exhibited.

We look to create an environment that favors acting in more appropriate ways and reinforce or strengthen those behaviors while following the strategies outlined in the behavior plan. Data is collected throughout to verify the impact, if any, of the strategies being implemented. Successful strategies are continued. Ineffective strategies are altered or discontinued. This process is called Functional Behavior Assessment or FBA.

The FBA becomes a kind of blueprint for anyone to use (family members, teachers, coaches, etc) to help your child pivot to alternative, incompatible,  & other ways to be that will help them become more successful in life.  Just like an established tree whose roots grow deep, once your child sees the worth in socially adaptive behaviors there's no telling how much they will grow.

“The Behavior you attend to is the Behavior you teach.”
